“As a Broad Resident, I can impact education through the lives of the key players: the employees. By using my skills to develop the organization and administration, I am freeing up time for educators to focus on teaching. At its core, The Broad Residency is an opportunity to do work that is useful. Going further, it allows me to do the type of work that I like—making organizations run smoothly—in the arena of education where my passion lies.”

Angie Kirk has worked in a variety of capacities within the Office of Human Capital (OHC) at Baltimore City Public Schools. During her Residency, her major focus has been using project management skills to drive district initiatives from the Human Capital space. Key projects include implementation manager of the network team, and OHC point person for turnaround school staffing. Prior to joining The Broad Residency, Kirk pursued entrepreneurial efforts in real estate management and managed a personal portfolio of properties in several states and the District of Columbia. Previously, she served as a senior human resource generalist for T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., where she was the human resources point of contact for a client group of more than 400 associates. In addition, she partnered with managers to increase organizational effectiveness by implementing corporate initiatives, coaching and developing and executing tailored solutions for her clients. Kirk has also served as project manager at First Union National Bank (Wachovia) and risk process leader at General Electric. Kirk holds a bachelor's degree in banking and finance from North Carolina A&T State University and a master's of business administration from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business. Kirk participated in The Broad Residency in Urban Education Cohort 2008, serving her two-year Residency at Baltimore City Public Schools.
